Review - "At Last" by Jill Shalvis

Goodreads review: HER LOVE HAS COME ALONG . . .
Amy Michaels loves her new life in Lucky Harbor. A waitress in the local diner, she's looking forward to her first weekend hike through the mountains. But when a wrong turn takes her off the trail, she finds herself up close and personal with forest ranger Matt Bowers. And even though she's tempted to kiss that sexy smile right off his face, she won't make the mistake of getting involved with the town heartthrob.

A former cop whose life went south, Matt doesn't let anyone get too close. But something about the feisty beauty caught his eye the moment he first saw her in the diner. After a hot night under a starry sky, Matt can't deny their attraction-or the fact that for the first time in a long time, he feels the stirrings of something more. Now it's up to Matt to help Amy see that, no matter what is in their past, together they can build a future in Lucky Harbor.

My Review

I just finished reading “At Last” by Jill Shalvis.  As all of Jill’s books this was very good. I love the characters of the town. The story takes place in a small town in Washington State called Lucky Harbor. We have met both Amy Michaels and Matt Bowers before.  Amy works at one of the two restaurants in town and doesn’t talk much about her past. She is also one of the Chocoholics who met to discuss the others members sex lives. Mallory and Grace are the other two members who met for chocolate brownies when they want to discuss one of the girl’s sex lives. In this book they are giving Amy “Good Girl” lessons. Amy came to Lucky Harbor to follow a path her Grandma had taken.  Amy lived with her Grandma until her death when Amy was 12 years old; the stories of Lucky Harbor and the Hope, Peace and Love she found there were Amy’s bedtime stories. Amy is hoping to find the same things in Lucky Harbor and is following her Grandma’s journal to see what she finds.

Matt or Ranger Hot Buns as Lucille the town gossip calls him on Facebook is a Supervisor Forest Ranger came to Lucky Harbor after leaving his job in Chicago with SWAT and a marriage that did not work. Matt wasn’t looking for anyone until he sees Amy waitressing.

Matt goes to the diner when he knows Amy is working.  Amy tries to ignore him.  Then Amy gets lost while hiking and her friend Mallory sends Matt to find her.  They will have to spend the night in a tent because a tree fell and blocked the forest road and there is no other way out.  This is the beginning of the romance between Amy and Matt.  Throughout the book they end up together and there are plenty of laughs and steamy scenes.

I really enjoyed the book and can’t wait till Jill Shalvis next book “Forever and a Day which comes out July 31, 2012.  Read all of her Lucky Harbor Novels.
